What you can learn from Mueller Polarimetry

This advanced optical technique, used for material science, had never been applied for plasma/surface interaction before.

The use of polarized light going through a birefringent crystal expose to plasma jet allows for determination of modification induced in the bulk of the material such as Electric field and temperature gradients.

There is no other technique until now capable of monitoring in situ, tie resolved modification of dielectric material under filamentary plasma exposure
